Mood support

A 1-week guided program — gentle daily practices that rebuild balance and plant seeds of hope.

By Roxanna D.

1DAY

Mindful breathing

Day 1: Mindfulness Meditation for Mood Support — By Roxanna D. & John-Paul Andersen, PhD Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment with openness and without judgment. For anyone moving through a low mood, mindfulness provides a way to reduce rumination, support emotional balance, and re-engage with life. Mindfulness meditation decreases activity in the HPA axis, lowering cortisol and chronic stress, while strengthening communication between the prefrontal cortex and the amygdala.

2DAY

Progressive muscle relaxation

Day 2: Progressive Muscle Relaxation for Mood Support — By Roxanna D. & John-Paul Andersen, PhD A low mood often comes with physical heaviness, fatigue, and bodily tension. PMR helps restore a sense of lightness and ease, creating a stronger mind–body connection. Studies show PMR eases physical tension such as headaches and muscle aches and supports more restful nights, while increasing interoceptive awareness.

3DAY

Gratitude

Day 3: Gratitude Practice for Mood Support — By Roxanna D. & John-Paul Andersen, PhD A low mood often narrows attention to loss, failure, or discouragement. Gratitude practice reorients the mind toward appreciation and connection. Gratitude lowers inflammatory markers, reduces cortisol, and increases heart rate variability, while activating reward pathways in the ventral striatum and medial prefrontal cortex.

4DAY

Self compassion

Day 4: Self-Compassion for Mood Support — By Roxanna D. & John-Paul Andersen, PhD A low mood is often reinforced by self-criticism and feelings of unworthiness. Self-compassion cultivates kindness, understanding, and acceptance toward oneself, reducing shame. These practices reduce cortisol, increase heart rate variability, and enhance oxytocin release — a hormone linked with safety, bonding, and calm.

5DAY

Avoiding judgement

Day 5: Avoiding Judgment — By Roxanna D. & John-Paul Andersen, PhD Judgment deepens emotional pain — people add layers of criticism such as "I should not feel this way." Avoiding judgment means observing thoughts and feelings without labeling them good or bad, restoring parasympathetic balance and strengthening the prefrontal cortex's regulation of the amygdala.

6DAY

Gentle visualization

Day 6: Gentle Visualization for Mood Support — By Roxanna D. & John-Paul Andersen, PhD Gentle visualization opens the mind's narrowed focus by creating mental images of safety, peace, and possibility — not forced positivity, but calm imagery that supports emotional balance. The body responds to calming imagery as if the safe environment were real, reinforcing rest and recovery. Music: “432 Hz Frequency Meditation – Theta Binaural Healing Music” by Oleksandr Chukhlib.

7DAY

Review, reflection, and planting seeds of hope

Day 7: Review, Reflection, and Planting Seeds of Hope — By Roxanna D. & John-Paul Andersen, PhD Over the week you practiced mindfulness, progressive muscle relaxation, gratitude, self-compassion, non-judgment, and gentle visualization — each grounded in science. Day 7 weaves them together and sets intentions for continued growth, reinforcing the body's stress recovery systems. Music: “Zen Garden (Healing 432 Frequency)” by Oleksandr Chukhlib.
